Ice cream cones on the front, with chocolate polka dot sides and trimmed in hot pink tulle ruffles and little pink jimmies sprinkles. All the edges are rolled in chocolate brown. A very sweet little pink party favor fabric is hidden under all layers. Beautiful ruffle layers adorn the back. And it all ties together with a hidden back tie. The Best Summer for a Vegetable Garden

Weeks of hot temperatures and no rain gave the Pacific Northwest the best growing conditions for a vegetable garden. I decided last winter, while having dinner with my 80 year old Uncle, to clear, rake and plant my 1/4 acre empty city lot into a garden. We hauled miles of blackberry vines and tons of gifted rocks and debris away. Without the use of any fertilizers, or even organic compost, and no pesticides...yep, so that leaves water, dirt and sun, we have a harvest beyond expectations. Enjoy this pictures!

I planted 4 fruit trees along one side fence...these are apples...baby for now until the tree gets a little bigger.

I didn't plant the sunflower. It is simply a lovely volunteer.

Duct Tape Creativity!

I really didn't know what to expect when my DD's BF offered to make me a duct tape bag! I had heard about the prom contest, and had seen a few pics of some unfortunates affixed to walls with this stuff, but when the array of colors was presented to me, I was curious about what would become of those rolls. Ta Da! Isn't this the most amazing piece of duct tape art? The flaps are interchangeable and the design includes pockets...several of them! This is his own design. He has made many and no two are alike. Many thanks, Sam...It's fabulous.

A little late in posting these pictures...but I thought I would do so anyway. It's a good break from LilyandEbony and AllegroFabrics. We had a great time on Lopez Island. The weather was perfect, and has been here in the Northwest for weeks and weeks. No rain at all. It's well deserved after what we all went through last winter!

And the Parade says it all about this wonderful community.

Whitney is living here for the summer while she interns for Sound Watch...and enjoys her time with the Orca Whales.

Under the shadow of Sacre Coeur in Paris lies the lively fabric sellers quarter. When I was visiting there last summer I found this fabulous piece of fabric flapping in the breeze. It is made in France, all cotton, and a little heavier than our regular quilting weight goods. I paired it with a no wrinkle white faux linen for the pants, a cute royal blue nautical stripe for trim and ruffle and yards of bright white rope piping. The peasant blouse is made of summer weight gauze with elastic shirring at the neck and sleeves. Matching hairbows included. Can also be worn without the blouse under. Double anchor buttons at the straps.

This custom set includes the tunic length top, the elastic waist pants, the peasant blouse and the hairbow pair. Custom made by LilyandEbony in sizes 2-6. Sewn in labels.
Each item is handmade. Attention is given to selection of fabrics, colors and design. All seams are serge finished.

It all starts on Monday morning, February 2nd. I can hardly believe that a whole year has gone by. The idea of opening an online fabric store came to me one rainy Seattle day. I convinced some of my design group friends to fly out for the regional quilt market. I had sooo much fun meeting and hosting Laurie, Timi, Christine, and Jen. We spent an entire day meeting with the local reps and making fabric selections. I excitedly opened accounts with all of them and just hoped all the choices we made were good ones! How could I go wrong surrounded by such talented designers!?
Timi volunteered to create a website for me. I wondered how I would ever learn how to manage such a thing. She worked tirelessly for me and led me thru the steps. The results of her creativity and design along with the unending support of the members of my design group, Sugar3, have given me an amazing first year.

When given the opportunity to use such beautifully designed fabrics, the possibilities are endless! I have created a three piece set. The laced front overtop is lined at the front and back bodice, with lace loops, dangly beads I brought back from my trip last summer to Paris. The peasant blouse is made of a very soft textured print, shirred at the neck and sleeves. The triple ruffle pants have an elastic waist. This is a custom set and can be made in sizes 3-8.

A long trip can be so inspirational! I just returned from three weeks in Paris and Venice.

I had to peek in every shop window to see the latest fashion trends and the new Fall colors. Everywhere I went little mental notes and sweeping design ideas filled my head and were etched on cafe napkins, the backs of ticket stubs and bits of scrap paper.

My LilyandEbony sewing studio is full of bright new fabrics with wonderful textures and prints. Vintage buttons and laces from Paris brocantes made their way home with me.

Back from Quilt Market....

Sunday in Portland was a day to remember. It's a long drive back and forth from Seattle, but so well worth it. It's huge, really huge. I had scheduled appointments for every hour with my reps, but in between I was able to find some new treasures for my AllegroFabrics store. I can hardly wait til they all come in. I concentrated on finding new and interesting patterns. This summer I will make samples of many of them, send them out to be modeled and post them in a new patterns section in the store.
....and the new fabrics from some of the most amazing artists....oh my gosh...they are irresistible! Sandi Henderson's new Farmer's Market is beautiful, bright, uplifting and soon to be overflowing all over my store. I got to meet Sandi and talk to her...well, I was probably not making much sense in my excitement, but she is very sweet! Her booth was easy to spot...from a distance I could see her bright red chairs that are on her blog!...Her patterns are fun...

I had a wonderful conversation with Heather Ross...She talked a bit about how her childhood inspires her imagination for her designs. She is so genuine and open. I could have listened to her for hours describing how she collected the names for those little goldfish, who the little girls are on her new Mendocino line, her summers on the beach. There is a part of her in every brush stroke that created every image on every piece of fabric. She truly is sharing her life on a fabric canvas. Needless to say, AllegroFabrics will soon be the proud owner of hundreds of yards......
Heather Bailey came by while I was drooling over Pop Garden and Bijoux her two newest (OH my!) lines. She showed me the magazine with pages of her latest...you have got to check this out...the photography is amazing and every detail makes you smile...

I put together some wonderful combinations of Heather's fabrics that will take us from now thru Holiday...what an inspiration is she is...there isn't anything she can't do!

Tina Givens has a welcoming booth that I could have camped in for hours! We talked about hew newest color ways in Annabella...those little love birds are so huggable!
Chole's Imagination was everywhere! Tina has an edge to her designs that draws me in and takes me back to Europe. I feel totally enveloped in my other world when I am among her fabrics. And as a total surprise to me, she has kids PATTERNS!!!!!!!! There were beautiful samples everywhere. You guessed it, I will soon have those patterns in my store. Here is one color way from Chloe's Imagination...this is Tina's picture...

I stopped by to wave at Robin Mynatt of Paris Bebe and my WistaSista, Des. Robin was some very wonderful new designs and colors she has added to her collection. I love talking to Robin. Her talent is amazing. She has managed to grow her business in every way. I believe there isn't anything she can't do!
Many thanks to my friend Beth, who came with me on the long I5 drive from Seattle to Portland and back. The time flew! We had fabulous clear and sunny weather. Mt St Helen's and Mt Rainier led the way home.
It could not have been a more perfect day!

What a great theme we chose for this time of year...spring is all around us. Flowers are finally blooming here in the Northwest, and I am happy to see a welcome warm change. I chose some very outrageous fabrics and came up with some wild designs for my LilyandEbony sets. Check us out on ebay~

I finished my third in the Designer Fabric Series. This set is a combination of beautiful fabrics by Joel Dewberry accented by Kiwi Dots from Michael Miller. I found this great pattern in my drawer stash and knew exactly how this would all come together. Of course, working with such beautiful fabrics would inspire anyone! Passe Grille beach at sunset...
My trip to Florida was wonderful...visited one DD and brought my DH and another DD along with me...My return to Seattle was met with a snow storm. The beach at Passe Grille...so pretty at sunset. Many thanks to Jessica who helped me with my camera settings only a few days earlier...I never would have captured this shot without her help...
